It carries the thousand-year historical culture of the Grand Canal, perfectly combining traditional culture with modern architectural art, and attracting countless tourists to come and experience the charm of the Grand Canal culture and explore the historical context of the city. The artistic conception of "Qianhe Xielu" in Chinese is extremely beautiful. It means that crystal-clear dewdrops flow down from thousands of beautiful lotus flowers.
The design of the Qianhe Xielu Bridge began in 2012. With the "lotus" as the design theme, the bridge interprets the thousand-year cultural charm of the Grand Canal in the form of the integration of lotus and dewdrops. The graceful white curves on both sides of the bridge create the shape of lotus leaf edges, which naturally divide it into three undulating landscape platforms, integrating the pedestrian walkways, bicycle lanes, and the bridge itself.
Basic Information
- Construction Time: The construction started in March 2014 and was completed in 2018.
- Bridge Length: The total length of the bridge is 366 meters, among which the main bridge is approximately 210 meters and the approach bridge is about 150 meters.
- Bridge Width: The width of the bridge ranges from 39.6 meters to 61.6 meters.
- Structural Weight: The total weight of the steel beam structure is more than 8,000 tons.
- Viewing Facilities: There are three layers of landscape walkways and viewing platforms. The cornice of the upper viewing platform just provides shade for the tourists on the lower platform. The edge of the platform curls slightly upwards, and together with the landscape guardrail, it fully ensures the safety of the tourists. There is also a "Dew Condensation Platform" set at the lower end of the bridge. When it rains, the converging rainwater will flow down onto the piers that are like dewdrops, presenting a beautiful echo with the bridge's name, "Qianhe Xielu".
The Qianhe Xielu Bridge was designed by Beijing Municipal Engineering Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. The composite curved sandwich panels (i.e., the modeling part) of the bridge's enclosure system project were processed, produced, and installed by HEBEI COASTLAND FRP CO.,LTD
