Definition and Manufacturing Process

The FRP compression-molded garbage bin is made of fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) through the compression molding process. FRP, namely fiber-reinforced plastic, generally uses glass fiber or its products as the reinforcing material and synthetic resin as the matrix material. Through specific molds, high-temperature pressing and other processes, the materials are cured and formed in the mold to create a garbage bin with a specific shape and performance.

Dimensions

FRP compression-molded garbage bins come in various sizes. The common ones are as follows:

- 60 liters: The height is approximately 700mm, and the diameter is about 480mm. This size is quite common and is suitable for placement in indoor public places, such as the corridors of office buildings and school teaching buildings. It can meet the daily demand for collecting a relatively small amount of garbage.

- 120 liters: The height is about 800mm, and the diameter is around 560mm. It can be used in some outdoor environments, such as parks and certain areas within residential communities. It can accommodate a certain amount of garbage and is relatively easy to carry and clean.

- 240 liters: The height is approximately 1050mm, and the diameter is about 720mm. This is a common specification for outdoor garbage bins and is widely used in streets, garbage collection points in residential communities, and other places. It can hold a large amount of garbage, reducing the frequency of garbage collection and improving the efficiency of sanitation work.

Of course, in addition to these standard sizes, according to different usage scenarios and customer requirements, FRP compression-molded garbage bins of other special sizes can also be customized.

 Advantages

- High Strength and Durability: FRP has high strength, with excellent compressive and impact resistance. The compression molding process makes the structure of the garbage bin more compact and uniform, enabling it to withstand significant external forces without being easily deformed or damaged. Even under long-term use and harsh environmental conditions, it can maintain good performance, and the service life is generally more than 10 years.

-Corrosion Resistance: FRP compression-molded garbage bins have excellent corrosion resistance and strong resistance to chemical substances such as acids, alkalis, and salts. Whether in a humid environment or in contact with various corrosive garbage components, they are not easily corroded or rusted. They will not show rust spots like metal garbage bins, thus maintaining a clean appearance and stable performance.

- Aesthetics and Environmental Friendliness: FRP materials can be used to produce garbage bins in various colors and appearance effects through the addition of different pigments and surface treatment processes, meeting the aesthetic requirements of different environments. At the same time, FRP itself is non-toxic and odorless, will not cause pollution to the environment, and can be recycled and reused, which is in line with the concept of environmental protection.

-Good Insulation Performance: FRP is a good insulating material with the characteristic of non-conductivity. In some special environments, such as near electrical equipment or in places where static electricity is generated, it can effectively prevent safety accidents caused by electric leakage or static electricity, making it safer and more reliable to use.

- Low Maintenance Cost: Due to its good corrosion resistance and durability, it does not require frequent anti-rust treatment and frequent maintenance and replacement like metal garbage bins. Simple daily cleaning can keep the garbage bin in good condition, thus reducing the long-term maintenance cost.

General Instructions for FRP Compression-molded Products

 

1. Regarding Mechanical Indicators

For FRP compression-molded products, the mechanical indicators are positively correlated with the content of glass fibers in the raw material SMC. Without special requirements, the glass fiber content is generally around 22%. The corresponding tensile strength is generally greater than 50MPa, and the flexural strength is generally greater than 150MPa, subject to the finished product test.

 

2. Regarding Flame Retardancy

For products with flame retardancy requirements, the oxygen index can generally be made to be above 32. Of course, a higher oxygen index can also be achieved, subject to specific requirements.

 

3. Regarding Errors

Under normal circumstances, the dimensional error is approximately 0.3 millimeters. However, in the case of long strip-shaped and flat-shaped compression-molded products, the error may sometimes exceed 0.5mm.

 

4. Regarding Surface Coatings

(1) FRP products molded without a coating are generally not recommended for direct outdoor use. Due to long-term weathering, the surface layer of the products will be powdered. When viewed from the side against the light, many shiny fibers can be seen.

(2) For products such as compression-molded water channels, since an aesthetic appearance is not required, it is sufficient to leave enough corrosion allowance during the design.

(3) For highway anti-glare panels, in order to avoid powdering, the current surface coating is a combination of a chicken skin texture on the product surface and powder spraying. This coating is a patented technology that can ensure that the appearance will not be powdered within 8 years. That is to say, theoretically, the FRP body inside the coating will not be eroded until 8 years later, and the overall appearance can withstand more than 20 years. This is a cost-balanced solution because this technology does not require a high cost.

(4) The best way to ensure that the product appearance is not eroded by wind and rain is, of course, baking paint, which is currently the most costly manufacturing method. This is commonly seen in the outer shell parts of trucks.

(5) The product uses high-grade color paste instead of a coating to resist ultraviolet rays and weathering. For example, aviation warning balls use this technology. To some extent, this is also a kind of attempt because aviation warning balls place more emphasis on not fading rather than surface powdering.

 

5. Regarding Molds

For these compression-molded products, there must be a sufficient quantity of demand to be able to share the cost of the molds. Of course, for products for which we already have molds, they can be directly purchased without any quantity restrictions.

 

6. Regarding the Maximum Size of Compression-molded Products

Our company can undertake compression-molded products with a maximum size of 4000×3000. However, it is worth mentioning that the larger the product, the higher the mold cost and test cost.

 

7. Regarding the Transport Volume

The products uploaded by our company have already taken into account how to minimize the overall volume during transportation. For box-shaped compression-molded products, slopes have been considered to minimize the overall volume when stacking. If you must purchase box-shaped products with a square shape, the freight may be higher than the product price.

 

8. Regarding Design

Many people may still not be able to find where these products are used from the products we have uploaded. In fact, if you can find the previous metal products in our company or in this project and replace them with these FRP compression-molded products, it will be a good design. For example, we replaced the original aluminum shell at the rear of the searchlight with an FRP compression-molded one, and replaced the wheel arches on both sides of the tractor seat made of iron sheet with FRP ones. These are all good designs.
